We had a great eight days in the Peaks. Every day we were on tour – climbed Win Hill and Kinder Scout, cycled the Monsal Trail, visited Lyme Park and Kedleston Hall – and when we came back in the evening we enjoyed the beautiful and amazing cottage. We’ve really enjoyed the cottage. It’s a pleasure to be in, with the woodburner, great showers, well-equipped kitchen and a perfect location. The weather has been kind and we’ve had a week of late sunshine, so we’ve walked up Mam Tor, climbed up Stanage Edge, biked on the Monsal Trail and even fitted in a day at Alton Towers! We’ve played a board game every night and slept well on beds that, if firm, are actually very comfortable. We would come back many more times, there’s so much more to enjoy in Derbyshire.

In this week with temperatures constantly hovering around 27°C, the Hayloft passed the heatwave test with flying colours. Its thick walls helped us stay cool inside. The Hayloft was just as wonderful as we remembered from our first visit when you had only just opened and is still as pristine. The weather may have been chilly, but your welcome was very warm as was the cottage, and we had a lovely relaxing stay. The boys enjoyed the woodburner and had fun sledging down the hills. We will have to return, as on our first visit the weather was windy and wet, this time snowy, so hopefully next time sunshine, so we can really appreciate the gorgeous scenery and even a glass of wine in the garden!

We’ve had a lovely stay here in Highcliffe and have loved staying in the Hayloft, so much so that we’ve spent a fair amount of time by the woodburner admiring the snowy landscape from the warmth of the barn! We feel very fortunate to have seen Derbyshire covered in snow and we’re thankful that we actually managed to travel here!

Wow! This place is a real find! Stunning location, and a finish to die for! The barn is truly beautiful, and we really felt that we were in a home from home. Everything has been thought of, and the log fire really came into its own. The weather was hilarious – rain, wind, blizzards… and then we woke up to a big dump of snow!

We have stayed in many holiday homes, none have been as well equipped as this. The property has been very well converted with every attention to detail.

The location is superb for access to walking cycling and historic villages.
