This barn is a real gem! It was so good to come back again and enjoy this lovely holiday cottage! It’s so easy to relax in this beautiful building. We took part in the Grindleford Goat charity bike ride again and found that the hills have got even steeper. We’ve enjoyed the Tissington Trail and the Monsal Trail on the sunny days and Blue John Cavern on the rainy day. The holiday has flashed past and we’re looking forward to returning next year!

We really loved the local villages. Our keen runner has explored miles of footpaths and the open-air pool in Hathersage is a must. Lots of views for me to paint and sketch too. This was to be post son’s wedding in June 2020. When the wedding had to be postponed again in June 2021, we almost cancelled our booking – how glad we are that we did not! It is simply perfect – the warmth of the hosts is reflected in a wonderful home-from-home. What more could one ask for, other than a funicular railway to and from Eyam! This is the most beautiful part of the UK – great cycling (thank you inventor of the e-mountain bike!), picture postcard villages, welcoming people and just the most wonderful place to stay. We’ve really enjoyed the cottage. It’s a pleasure to be in, with the woodburner, great showers, well-equipped kitchen and a perfect location. The weather has been kind and we’ve had a week of late sunshine, so we’ve walked up Mam Tor, climbed up Stanage Edge, biked on the Monsal Trail and even fitted in a day at Alton Towers! We’ve played a board game every night and slept well on beds that, if firm, are actually very comfortable. We would come back many more times, there’s so much more to enjoy in Derbyshire.

We will have to return, as on our first visit the weather was windy and wet, this time snowy, so hopefully next time sunshine, so we can really appreciate the gorgeous scenery and even a glass of wine in the garden!

What to say? Too many superlatives required to describe the quality of our stay at the Hayloft. Superb hospitality, accommodation and facilities perfect in every detail.
